The subject of this post was taken from the title of a November 4, 2010 New York Times article.
It’s an insightful review of nine reasons people have not purchased Long Term Care insurance. The writer made a point about these reasons, which I wanted to highlight – “They’re all complicated, with some reflecting outright ignorance and odd rationalizations rooted in emotion.”
I recommend digging out the article – searching Google and using quotes will work.
Now even though some do not buy Long Term Care insurance studies of those who did buy bring up two important reasons why people did. They did not want to:
+ Burden family with being their caregiver.
+ Use up their saving nest egg on expensive assistance.
